Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

The color Pink is a combination of red & white. Red is associated with high energy, while white represents innocence, thus making the color pink a color of positive energy and action. The color pink promotes relaxation, love, acceptance, contentment, healing & happiness. It has been used as a calming color in the rooms of holding cells in prisons. The reason I’m writing about the color Pink today is to help draw attention to its use as a symbol of hope and awareness in the fight against Breast Cancer. Since October is Breast Cancer awareness month it seems an appropriate time to highlight this very important issue.
According to the National Cancer Institute, the estimated new cases and deaths from breast cancer in the United States in 2009 are as follows:
New cases: 192,370 (female); 1,910 (male)
Deaths: 40,170 (female); 440 (male)
