Color Facts

The way we see color varies from person to person. Our perception is affected by the cone cells in the retina of the eye as well as the sensitivity we each have to light. Because we are all unique, those variables can impact how we each see color.

The Color Red

When your eyes see the color red, your body is stimulated and responds with an increase in heart rate and breath. Red is associated with action.

The Color Orange

Combining the energy invoked in seeing red, with the playfulness of yellow, orange is an attention getting color for increasing energy levels.

The Color Yellow

While yellow is the first color your eye sees it is also the most fatiguing to look at. It is believed to increase your metabolism and enhance your concentration as well as stimulate strong emotions.

The Color Green

Green falls in the center of the color spectrum, giving it a sense of balance and calm. It is the color easiest on the eyes.

The Color Blue

When we see the color blue, our body produces calming chemicals which lower the pulse rate and body temperature. It enhances concentration.

The Color Violet (Purple)

Violet (Purple) is the last visible wave length before ultra violet rays, which gives it a mystical presence. In early history, purple dye was made from the mucous gland of a snail. It required thousands of snails to yield 1 gram of dye causing it to be a color only nobles could afford.
